Happy Christmas from Vancouver!

Happy Christmas to everyone back home in the UK, or elsewhere. It has been a total white Christmas here. While not actually snowing today, there is plenty of snow on the ground.

We got up late after having been to a midnight service at First Baptist Church. This isn't our normal church but there was too much snow to make it there. Instead we trudged through the snow to our old church. So we got up a bit late this morning, called our parents and then went off to have brunch with friends we know and new friends we just met! Brunch at the Sylvia Hotel, of Eggs Benny, looking out over a snow covered English Bay with good coffee and company - a great Christmas Day experience! Then a few of us went for a walk along the seawall and half the way round Stanley Park. And built a snowman. It is very surreal seeing deep snow covering the beach. Then it was back home to have some smoked salmon sandwiches (a bit of a tradition) and open our presents.

Our plan tomorrow is to meet with friends for Christmas dinner and play games and hang out. And then on Saturday we're planning on going snow shoeing, but it all depends on the weather. It's meant to rain or snow on Saturday.

Hope you are all having a great Christmas. We miss you all and have been thinking of you. There are a few photos on flickr of us in the snow.

Happy 2009, and God bless,

Tim and Steph

  1. A very merry Christmas to you, too! Good job with the snowman. No sign of snow in Essex or Southampton, I am sorry to say.
